Modern Playwrights (NP) [perhaps NP originally stood for 'New Plays/Playwrights?] developed from the Penguin Plays ('red' covered books in the Main series) and its focus is on contemporary drama. Unlike the 'Plays' series, each book concentrates on an individual playwright. NP1 Charles Dyer's 'Staircase' was published in November 1966. (Also see PL).
