Penguin First Editions :: Early First Edition Penguin Books

# Penguin introduced a series about our environments. The first part of the series was 'Things we see' and was intended to focus on the natural and man-made environments by linking our visual and intellectual understanding of the two. The first book published was E1 'The Things We See - Indoors and Out' published in June 1947. The book was produced in a larger format, with a size of 8½" x 7¼". The last book, E7 was issued in May 1953.

Planning, Design and Art Books (E31-39) were gathered together, with E31 'Living in Cities' by Ralph Tubbs published in April 1942. These books were glossy and in a landscape format with a book size of 6¾" x 8½" The last was published in December 1951. There is no E38.
